Export and import activities between Bangladesh and India through Akhaura land port in Brahmanbaria resumed on Thursday after a suspension for four days on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha. Traders, officials and staff members were seen busy with their regular activities after resuming of the trade via Akhaura land port.
Traffic Inspector of Akhaura Land Port Rukunuzzaman Abedin confirmed the matter on Thursday.
Rukunuzzaman said the port activities began with the export of 25 tonnes of frozen fish to India at 10:00am on the day. The export and import activities between two countries remained halted for Eid-ul-Azha. The trade activities resumed at the land port on Thursday.
General Secretary of Akhaura Land Port Shafiqul Islam said the trade was halted from Sunday to Wednesday for four days on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha. All kind of Export and import activities resumed from Thursday morning.
Officer-in-Charge of Akhaura international immigration check post M Khairul Alam said the trade between the two countries remained halted for four days during the Eid-ul-Azha vacation. However, the movement of passengers holding passports from both countries remained unaffected during the closure.
