As part of the violence after the Bajrajogini Union by-election in Munshiganj Sadar Upazila, incidents of cocktail explosions, attacks and vandalism took place at Guhpara Sheikh's house.
The miscreants committed this incident between 10:00 and 11:30 on Thursday night. Miscreants also detonated cocktails at Chashma Pratik candidate Ramsingh's old house. Evidence of a cocktail explosion can be seen at the scene, glass of the house was broken in the attack.
According to the victims and witnesses of the incident, the Awami League people committed the incident after the victory of Alhaj Md Sirajul Islam, the boat candidate in the by-election in Bajrajogini Union on July 27. Around 10 pm on Thursday night, 8/9 people on 3 motorcycles came and exploded cocktails at their house. The police were informed about this and the police visited the spot. 30 minutes after the police left, the miscreants again arrived in a microbus with 4 people and the previous people and exploded the cocktails. They also said that the miscreants abused and made bad comments about bringing the police. The elderly and children staying at home were stunned for some time by the sound of the cocktail explosion. After 20 long minutes they were brought back to normal. They also said that Tota Mia Munshi was the chairman of Shantipriya Bajrajogini Union for 25 years. During his stay, he used to announce the day after the election so that there would not be any kind of disorder in the area. Everyone obeyed him and in the past I have not witnessed any untoward incident after elections.
According to the victims and witnesses, Shahidullah Khan's son Ratan Khan (32), Abhi (22), Azizul Sheikh's son Apu (30), Sirajul Islam Halder's son Kecha Masum (38), Chunnu Bhuiya's son Kausar (30), Hussain Molla's son Maksudur Rahman Mollah (33) and Nazimuddin Lashkar’s son Sentu Lashkar (35) are involved in the incident.
Munshiganj Sadar Upazila BNP Convening Committee No. 5 member Advocate Abdul Halim said that because he is an agent of Chashma Pratik, the people of the boat candidate attacked and exploded their house.
Meanwhile, the newly elected chairman of the Bajrayogini union boat symbol Alhaj Md Sirajul Islam and the in-charge of Hatimara police investigation center Amar Das visited the scene on Friday around 11 o'clock.
Alhaj Md Sirajul Islam said during the inspection of the incident, action will be taken against those involved in the investigation. I was elected by the votes of every people of Bajrajogini Union. Now I am everyone's chairman of Bajrajogini Union. If someone tries to create disorder in this union, it is the responsibility of the chairman to see it.
Amar Das, in-charge of Hatimara Police Investigation Center, said, I am in charge of three unions. No exemption will be given to anyone causing disturbance in these areas. No matter which party he belongs to. We will not see that.
