Experts at a workshop on Tuesday recommended for widening tax net without depending on class of taxpayers.
The Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) and SMAC Advisory Services Limited jointly organized the workshop on personal income tax payment on Tuesday at the World Trade Centre, Chattogram.
The Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Omar Hazzaz presided over the meeting.

Senior Partner Siddharth Barua, Institute of Chartered Accountants Bangladesh Vice President Md. Zahirul Islam, Chittagong Taxes Bar Association President Md Nur Hossain was present as guest speaker.
SMC IT Limited Director Snehashish Barua highlighted various aspects related to payment of personal income tax in the program.
Chamber director Anjan Shekhar Das, Mahfuzul Haque Shah, Mahbubul Haque Miah, Mohammad Adnanul Islam, Mohammad Monir Uddin, former directors Kamal Mostafa Chowdhury, Abshar Hasan Chowdhury (Jasim) and representatives of various business and industrial organizations were present.
Omar Hazzaz, President of the Chamber, said that the money provided by the people is one of the driving forces of the government's development. The biggest example of which is the glorious Padma Bridge built with domestic funding.
Also, Bangabandhu Tunnel has recently been inaugurated by the Prime Minister, half of the total project implementation has been funded by public or government money.
Income tax is one of the main sources of government revenue. But many people are not aware about income tax payment.
Chittagong Tax Zone-3 Tax Commissioner Dr. Ikhtiaruddin Md. Mamun said that the government's new income tax law has made it mandatory to submit income tax returns for receiving more than 40 services.
Again, the law has also made it mandatory for all government employees to submit returns. Under the new law, taxpayers who fail to file returns by November 30 will be denied tax exemption and tax rebate benefits.
