Two books by an expatriate writer and founder of a charity, God’s Grace Ministry, Sharley Biswas, were launched on Friday (March 22) at an event held at Bangladesh Adventist Union Mission church at Mirpur in the capital.
Based in California of USA, Sharley wrote the books— Geetargha and Jeshute Ishwarer Prokash—praising Jesus Christ were launched at the colourful event, according to a press release.
Organisers said that the books were not for sale but to be distributed among the people interested in reading. The books will be available at the non-government organisation Pidim Foundation office at Rupnagar in the capital.
Sharley Biswas in a virtual speech from the USA called upon all to be humanitarian and kind to all people sensing their pains. “Don’t dishearten anyone, stand by sick people to reduce their pain,’ she said.
Musicians John Dilip Sarkar and Gilbert Sarkar were also honoured lifetime for their outstanding contribution to music. The singers, lyrists and composers were awarded at the event with crest and cash at the event, particularly for their contribution to Christian Music.
God’s Grace Ministry based in California also works in Bangladesh among orphaned and homeless people.
Speaking at the event as the chief guest, founder and executive director of Pidim Foundation Advin Barun Banerjee said that Sharley Biswas was pretty fond of music and literature from her early childhood and she continued practicing it even at the worst time of her life. “Among other branches of literature she (Sharley Biswas) was interested in poetry in her early life,” he said.
