UNO of Kotalipara SM Mahfuzur Rahman has taken up a laudable step by opening a FB page entitled 'Chashir Hashi Cell' aiming to cooperate farmers of the upazila to harvest paddy from the field.
Through the FB page, UNO has invited unemployed young men, various professionals, transport workers, shop keepers and students to register with the page to assist the farmers to harvest paddy as volunteers. Interested persons have been requested to contact concerned Union Parishad Offices and to the Sub-Assistant Agriculture Officer to register their names by filling up forms by down loading it from the 'Chashir Hashi Cell' Facebook page.
UNO Mahfuur Rahman in this connection said, farmers of the upazila are worried with the harvesting of paddy of some 24,520 hectares of land due to labour shortage. Earlier, hundreds of farm labourers used to visit the area from various places of the country to harvest paddy but due to Corona situation, farm labourers from far away districts are failing to arrive in Kotalipara at present.
On the other hand, a large number of people engaged in various professions and students who arrived at the area from Dhaka and other places staying unemployed at their houses and many of them are facing an acute financial crisis. To assist the farmers to harvest paddy and to remove financial crisis of those staying home without any work, the 'Chashir Hashi Cell' has been opened in the FB. He also requested the interested people to contact their local Union offices or with local agriculture officer for further information.
