Former Vice President-1 Kamal Mahmud has been expelled from the Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) for various irregularities and illegal embezzlement of money.
The decision was taken from the 5th board meeting of the board of directors at the REHAB office on Monday.
Former Vice President of Rehab-1 Kamal Mahmud is Managing Director of Skyrose Builders (Membership No-1203/2012).
Earlier on August 3, the 3rd board meeting of REHAB formed an inquiry committee on financial and administrative matters of the organisation. After the investigation, the committee gave Kamal Mahmud an opportunity to appear at the REHAB office on September 19 to verify his statement and involvement regarding the irregularities of Tk 1 crore in rehab along with various complaints.
However, Kamal Mahmud did not appear in rehab that day.
It is mentionable that the Ministry of Commerce investigated and informed REHAB on December 31, 2018 about the truth of irregularities of Tk 1 crore. However, the then board did not take any action in this regard.
The present board of REHAB formed an inquiry committee to re-examine the matter and the inquiry committee verified and found evidence of irregularities.
That is why the investigation committee gave Kamal Mahmud an opportunity to defend himself or to know what his statement was. Kamal Mahmud is also accused of financial irregularities in the REHAB Training Institute.
Expelled from Rehab, Kamal Mahmud and his company will not be able to accept any privileges or conduct real estate business anywhere under the identity of 'REHAB member' including seals, billboards and advertisements bearing REHAB membership.
