The former planning minister and former lawmaker of Sunamganj-3 MA Mannan has been sent to jail in a case filed over the attacking students during the recent mass movement on August 4.
Sunamganj Judicial Magistrate Court Judge Farhan Sadiq passed the order after police produced Mannan before the court on Friday morning.
Mannan’s lawyer Advocate Shafiqul Islam said they explained to the court that Mannan’s health condition is not good. The court, after considering all aspects, sent him to jail.
Earlier, on Thursday night, police arrested former planning minister and former lawmaker of Sunamganj-3 MA Mannan has been from his residence in Shantiganj upazila of Sunamganj district.
Superintendent of Sunamganj Police AFM Anwar Hossain Khan said that the former minister was arrested at around 10PM on Thursday. He said that the former planning minister shown arrested in a case filed over an attack on students on August 4.
Hafiz Ahmad, brother of Zahoor Ahmed, who was injured in a attack during the recent mass movement, a resident of Dowarabazar Upazila of the district, filed the case under the Speedy Trial Act on September 2 with the Sadar Model police station. Ninety nine people, including MA Mannan, were accused in this case.
