Former Awami League lawmaker of Jhenaidah-1 constituency, Nayeb Ali Joarder, on Friday remanded for four days. He was arrested on Thursday midnight.
A joint drive conducted by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and the Army managed to detain the ex-lawmaker from his Arappur residence in Jhenaidah town at about 11:00pm.
Nayeb Ali Joarder, an executive committee member of Awami League district committee, was arrested in two separate cases for his alleged involvement in looting, vandalizing and setting fire at the house of BNP Jhenaidah district unit president MA Mazid and the party’s district office on August 4.
RAB-6 Jhenaidah camp in-charge Major Naim Ahmed said they had conducted the drive acting on a tip off at about 11:00pm on Thursday. Nayeb Ali Joarder was the prime accused in vandalizing, looting and setting fire at the BNP leader’s house and BNP district office on August 4. Two separate cases were lodged against him with Jhenaidah Sadar police station.
