Two cases were filed against 215 Awami League men, including ex-KCC mayors and ex-parliament members, with Khalishpur Police Station.
Police filed the cases last night on charges of vandalism, arson, and looting of local BNP offices, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khalishpur Police Station Md. Anwar Hossain told BSS on Saturday.
Local Sramik Dal leader Sheikh Dabir filed a case accusing 110 named and 20 to 25 unnamed AL men of vandalism, looting, and arson on August 27, 2022.
Another BNP leader, Kazi Md. Ekram Mintu, filed a case against 105 named and 25 to 30 unnamed AL men for arson attacks and vandalism in the BNP office on October 22, 2023.
According to two FIRs, AL men, including ex-mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque, ex-parliament members Begum Monnujan Sufian, S. M. Kamal Hossain, and Sheikh Salahuddin Jewel, attacked BNP offices while BNP men were observing protest programmes, said the OC.
The cases have already been recorded, and the investigation will begin soon, the OC said.
