Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), East West University (EWU) and Japan-Bangladesh Robotics and Advanced Technology Research Center (JBRATRC) collaboratively organized the first international conference on ‘Advances in Science, Engineering and Robotics Technology 2019 (ICASERT 2019) and International Robo-Fest 2019’ at EWU, Dhaka, Bangladesh from 3-5 May, technical co-sponsored by the IEEE Bangladesh Section and IEEE Robotics and Automation Society Bangladesh Chapter. The opening ceremony of ICASERT 2019 was held on Friday at 10am.
ICASERT 2019 is one of the largest technical events on Advances in Science, Engineering and Robotics Technology in Bangladesh. This conference aims to provide a unique opportunity for professionals, scientists, engineers, educators, researchers and students from all over the world to exchange their scientific ideas, views, and thoughts with fellow researchers and participants. Approximately 800 papers were submitted from all around the world.
All the papers have undergone a thorough and rigorous double-blind review process. Senior IEEE Fellow, Professor Dr Vincenzo Piuri, Italy served as general chair of the Technical Programme Committee.
Dr Dipu Moni, MP, Minister of Education, graced the opening ceremony as the chief guest. Syed Manzur Elahi, chairperson, Board of Trustees, EWU attended the opening ceremony as the special guest. Dr Mohammed Farashuddin, founder vice chancellor (VC) and chief adviser, EWU attended the opening ceremony as the chief patron of the conference. Professor Dr M M Shahidul Hassan, VC, EWU attended the opening ceremony as the Conference Chair. Professor Dr Fakrul Alam, Pro VC, EWU attended the opening ceremony as the guest of honour. Professor Dr Celia Shahnaz, Department of EEE, BUET and chair, IEEE Bangladesh Section attended the opening ceremony. Dr Ahmed Wasif Reza, chairperson of Department of Computer Science and Engineering, EWU and organizing chair of the conference attended the opening ceremony.
Approximately 300 enthusiastic participants (guests, researchers and participants from home and abroad) attended the ceremony.
The International Robo-Fest 2019 in conjunction with this conference was a great opportunity for the participants to know the recent advances in robotics and Bangladeshi participants was able to generate new ideas to use robot-based technologies for the national development.
This conference helped participants doing better research, to find and understand new ideas, and to disseminate their own research of evolving technologies relating to the Science, Engineering, and Robotics among participating national and international researchers, academia and industrial professionals.
This international conference and Robo-Fest elevated the academic image of the Computer Science and Engineering Department of EWU as well as of our country to another step up and it will further help to transform the country into Government’s vision of “Digital Bangladesh”.
