Many projects are in progress across the country at present. Rail communication is being established with every district of the country.
Railway Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujan made the comments while inaugurating six stations from Dhaka to Jamalpur under the programme of elevating platforms, construction of shades, access control, and modernization of station buildings to ensure comfortable rail travel for the passengers on the occasion of Mujib Barsha on Thursday.
The six stations include Gafargaon, Mymensingh Junction, Jamalpur Junction, Melandah Bazar, Islampur Bazar and Dewanganj Bazar Railway Station.
“The single line is being turned into double line in phases. Broad gauge lines are being constructed everywhere as there is broad gauge and meter gauge division between east and west railway,” he said.

While speaking at several railway stations, the railway minister said that the Prime Minister formed a separate ministry for railway in 2011 with the aim of building railways as a modern and up-to-date communication system. He also said a dual gauge line would be constructed from Joydebpur to Jamalpur via Mymensingh.
