Evans' ‘Lightyear’ gets ‘Knives Out’ treatment in fan art

Chris Evans’ animated character Buzz is introduced in Pixar’s ‘Lightyear’, and fresh artwork combines the actor’s animated avatar with his ‘Knives Out’ adversary.

Tim Allen initially brought the renowned ‘Space Ranger’ to life in 1995’s ‘Toy Story’ as an astronaut action figure; who develops an unexpected friendship with an old-fashioned pull-string cowboy toy named Woody (voiced by Tom Hanks).

The success of this film, as well as its 1999 sequel; spawned a spin-off series, ‘Buzz Lightyear’ of ‘Star Command’; in which Patrick Warburton took over as the main voice actor. Now, Chris Evans will be the next actor to portray the character in ‘Lightyear’; which appears to be a full-fledged origin narrative for the human astronaut who inspired the ‘Toy Story’ action figure.

The next film from Disney and Pixar will follow ‘Buzz Lightyear’ during his early days as a ‘Star Command Space Ranger’. This project was first announced at ‘Disney Investor Day’ last year, with Evans voicing the title character.

Evans is going to show off his range once more in ‘Lightyear’, this time with more family-friendly fare. Marvel fans seem to appreciate how the teaser continues a running ‘Captain America’ gag from The Avengers; so it’s possible that Lightyear will make references to some of Chris Evans’ other roles, such as the eccentric Ransom Drysdale.

Expect more Lightyear-inspired fan art from now until the animated picture hits theatres on June 17, 2022; now that the first teaser trailer has been out.   -Comic Book
