Chris Evans' Buzz explores a mysterious alien planet in a new Lightyear movie image. First introduced in 1995's Toy Story, where he was voiced by Tim Allen, Buzz is set to get his very own standalone film with this summer's Lightyear. The film sees Evans take over as the voice of Buzz and chronicles the life of the astronaut/test pilot who would later inspire the Buzz Lightyear line of toys.
Lightyear is directed by Angus MacLane, who is best known for his animation work on previous Pixar movies such as The Incredibles, Up, and Toy Story 3, as well as his co-directing work on Finding Dory. Initial trailers for the film have teased plenty of time travel, interstellar space flight, and planetary exploration, with Buzz even going through what appears to be a wormhole at one point. In addition to Evans as Buzz, Lightyear features a standout voice cast, including Keke Palmer, Dale Soules, Taika Waititi, Peter Sohn, Uzo Aduba, and James Brolin, who voices the iconic Emperor Zurg.
In a new Lightyear image posted to Twitter by Fandango, Buzz can be seen with two fellow astronauts exploring an alien planet. The image shows Aduba's Alicia Hawthorne with Buzz behind her and a third astronaut in the background, who is wrapped in a thick vine. Hawthorne is using her forearm control pad in the image, a device originally made famous by Buzz in Toy Story.
The planet in the image appears briefly in the official Lightyear movie trailer but this new image hints at the otherwordly types of alien threats Buzz and his fellow astronauts will encounter. In addition to what appears to be a giant spherical ship in the background, the Lightyear image teases that the alien planet will feature native plants and animals that may not be particularly friendly. -Screen Rant
