Epic film ‘Kajolrekha’ premiers on OTT

The historical epic film Kajolrekha, directed by Gias Uddin Selim, has officially premiered on the Bongo OTT platform after a successful seven-month run in theaters. Adapted from the 400-year-old Maimansingha Gitika, the film offers audiences a journey into Bangladesh's rich cultural heritage.

Selim confirmed the release, stating, “Many have eagerly waited to watch the film on OTT. The wait is over.” Viewers can now stream Kajolrekha on Bongo for a subscription fee of just Tk 20.

The movie stars Mondera Chakroborty in the titular role, marking her cinematic debut. Chakroborty rose to fame in 2012 by winning the Best Dancer competition organized by Channel i. Acclaimed actor Sariful Razz, known for Poran and Hawa, plays the role of the king, while Rafiath Rashid Mithila portrays the villainous Kankan Dasi.

The ensemble cast includes Khairul Basar, Azad Abul Kalam, Iresh Zaker, Gousul Alam Shaon, and Sadia Ayman, among others.

The music of Kajolrekha has also drawn significant praise, with songs like Holud Re Tui, Konya Ake Go Alpona, and Bap Morey Koi Loiya Jao Go becoming fan favorites. The soundtrack was composed by Kafil Ahmed and Emon Chowdhury.

Filming for the movie took place in diverse locations across Bangladesh, such as Durgapur in Netrokona, the Sundarbans in Khulna, Cox’s Bazar, the Haor wetlands in Sylhet, and Mirpur in Dhaka, showcasing the country’s natural beauty. With its release on Bongo, Kajolrekha is now accessible to a wider audience, bringing the timeless tale of love, conflict, and tradition to the digital platform.
