Minister of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Md Shahab Uddin has left for Italy to participate in the pre-COP 26 consultation meeting that will be held in Italy's Milan from September 30 to October 3.
The Minister left Dhaka at 4.30 am on Wednesday at the invitation of Italian Minister of Ecological Transition Roberto Cingolani, according to press release sent by the Ministry. Environment Minister Shahab Uddin is leading a three-member Bangladesh delegation. The other members of the delegation are A Shamim Al Razi, Additional Secretary (Development) of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Bangladesh Focal Point of the Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF) and Md Ziaul Haque, Director of Department of Environment.
Apart from the pre-COP-26 consultation meeting, the environment minister will also meet the CVF Secretariat and representatives of other countries to discuss COP-26 preparations, added the release.
The meeting, to be held a month before the Conference of the Parties in Glasgow, Scotland, will make a significant contribution in tackling the global challenge of climate change.
In the meeting, the Environment Minister will discuss with the ministers of different countries the possible solutions of the problems related to climate change, which will be helpful in taking decisions in COP-26.
Moreover, the Environment Minister will get opportunity to deliver speech in the conference on behalf of CVF as Bangladesh is the President of CVF.
After attending the conference, the Minister will leave Milan for Bangladesh on October 4 at 4.15 pm local time.
