The admission tests (two unit’s) of seven government colleges, affiliated to Dhaka University (DU) and Chittagong University (CU) for undergraduate programme in 2020-21 academic year, are going to be held on the same day.
As a result of this decision, candidates seeking admission to those institutions, are in great dilemma. They are finding it hard to choose to attend any of those tests and thus, requesting rescheduling the dates.
According to the admission circular, tests of Arts and Social Sciences Unit of seven government colleges are scheduled to be held on October 30. On the other hand, ‘D’ units’ test of CU is scheduled on 30th and 31st October.
Many students have applied for these two faculties and want to take part in both. But since there are two test dates on the same day, they have to take part in either one.
They say they have submitted the application fees for both after form fill-up, but have to choose only one. In addition, it takes some hours to take part in the examination after a long journey between Dhaka and Chittagong.
So, taking the situation under consideration, students urged the authority to consider changing the dates.
Md Shafayet Alam, an admission seeker, told Bangladesh Post, “I have applied for studies in both the institutions and prepared that way. But the same units’ test is scheduled on the same day at different corners. I cannot take the risk of attending in only one.”
“It takes around 6-7 hours to reach Chittagong from Dhaka. We will even face trouble attending the next days’ test if we’re on frequent journeys and don’t have a scope to rest. We want the authorities to take a look into the matter and reschedule the dates,” Nasrin Sultana, another candidate, told Bangladesh Post.
Meanwhile, Dhaka University (DU) Pro Vice-chancellor (Education) and the chief coordinator of the seven affiliated colleges, Professor Dr ASM Maqsud Kamal promised to resolve the issue as saying, “I’m looking into the matter. This will be resolved after talking to the exam controller.”
