The President of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry was speaking as a special guest at a seminar on 'Industry Sector Risk Profile-The Case of KPZ and Kalurghat Industrial Area in Chittagong' jointly organized by the Ministry of Planning and UNDP at a hotel in the city on Thursday morning.
The President said noting that reducing the cost of doing business in the private sector in the current competitive market is one of the goals.
“It would not be right to suddenly impose any policy on the private sector for disaster management. Long-term loan facilities should be provided on easy terms to encourage disaster tolerant investment. In addition, one-time full or partial grants are required to relocate existing industries in disaster-prone areas or to make them disaster-tolerant”, her added.
Moreover, it is necessary to consider giving tax leave facility to import the necessary technology and equipment for disaster resilient investment. So he hopes to take immediate action in this regard.
