Miscreants at Bagmara upazila have ravaged Potato plants of a share-cropper. By watching the damaged potato plants, the farmer has become completely disappointed and burst into tears.
According to sources, farmer Abdul Quddus of Dakta village of Bagmara cultivated potato on share-cropping contract on 10-decimal of land at Bilsuti field. The potato plants grew smoothly due to proper care and weeding.
Like other days, Quddus went to his potato field at around 11-00 am today (Tuesday) but he was shocked to watch all potato plants of his field cut-down from the roots. By watching such a pathetic scene he turned nearly abnormal and burst into tears. He suspects some miscreants might ravage those potato plants at the darkness of night.
He further suspects the cause of wrath of the miscreants might be his support and work for a Councillor candidate in the upcoming Municipal Elections. He said, potato plants of only his field has been cut-down and uprooted while surrounding potato fields remained untouched.
Abdul Quddus further said, he has been canvassing for an AL Councillor candidate in upcoming Municipality Elections which resulted in a rivalry with another Councillor candidate. He suspects, the cause behind the damage of the potato plant might be his role in the Municipality Elections scheduled to be held on January-16, 2021.
Local Councillor Hasan Ali said, it was an inhuman act to damage the potato field of farmer Abdul Quddus. No one should engage in enmity with the crops, he added.
