Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc struck twice each to dent England in the morning session
England's middle order caved in on the second morning at Headingley as Australia took control of the third Test against England. Trailing by 195 by stumps on the first day, England were heavily reliant on their senior middle order trio of Joe Root, Jonny Baristow and Ben Stokes to step up. However, Root and Bairstow departed without making an impact while Stokes, who was seen struggling with an injury, was still battling out there by lunch.
Australia had a spectacular start to the day when Cummins struck second ball to get the big fish. Root attempted to guide the ball towards third man and ended up edging it to first slip. While Bairstow fetched a boundary in the same over, he didn't last long as Starc came into the attack and removed him immediately. In all fairness, the wicket came off a very ordinary delivery as Starc bowled it wide of off stump only for the batter to chase and edge it behind.
