On Saturday morning, an otter locally known as ‘Bonvodor' was released into Kukri Mukri forest, an island wildlife sanctuary in Bhola's Char Fashion Upazila, by the Forest Department after being rescued.

Earlier, Gias Uddin, a resident of Ward 8 of Char Fashion Municipality, found the otter entangled in a fishing net beside the pond of his house on early Thursday.

The owner of the pond kept the otter imprisoned in a cage. Hearing about the capture, Range Officer of Char Fashion Forest Department Alauddin rescued the otter from him on Friday night and kept it in the forest department.Range Officer Alauddin said, this species of otter is no longer commonly seen. They usually roam the sea, rivers and ponds in search of food.

Due to the gathering of people including trawlers and fishing boats in the river, otters have now moved to the locality.
