A two-day program titled 'Electrical SURGE 2.0' has started organized by the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET). On this occasion, a joyous rally was taken out in front of the EEE department on the first day of the festival on Thursday morning. It was led by CUET Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Rafiqul Alam. The rally went from the University's EME building to the Civil Engineering Building, Administration Building and ended at the Central Auditorium. Teachers-students and officers-employees of different departments of the university participated in it.
Later, CUET Vice Chancellor announced the official opening of the festival by blowing balloons at the Independence Sculpture Square.
CUET Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Rafiqul Alam was the chief guest in the opening ceremony organized in the central auditorium of the university. Dean of Electrical and Computer Technology Faculty Professor Dr. Mohammad Samsul Arefin, Professor of Electrical Electronic and Systems Engineering Department of UKM University of Malaysia Dr. Naushad Amin, Director of Student Welfare Professor Dr. Md. Rezaul Karim were special guests.
Head of Department of EEE Prof. Dr. Noor Mohammad presided over the meeting. Convener of EEE Day-2023 Prof. Dr. Nipu Kumar Das delivered the welcome address on the occasion. '19 batch students Shahriar Mahmud Saadi, Umama Jannat and Radika Jahan also spoke on behalf of the outgoing students. Associate Professor Dr. Mehdi Hasan Chowdhury was the co-convener of this year's EEE Day.
Professor Dr. Mohammad Rafiqul Alam said, "We are now walking on the path of the 4th industrial revolution. The world is now moving towards digital technology and smart technology. Young people also need to adapt to these technologies to face that challenge. Going to enter the workplace after completing CUET's education. You have to show your skills at work. It is now your responsibility to spread CUET's reputation worldwide. To move ahead with the times, one has to acquire various soft skills. Later, the cover of the book titled “Tesseras” was unveiled to mark the day. A technical session titled “Exploring the Horizons of the 4th Industrial Revolution: AI and Advanced Telecommunications in Electrical Engineering” and an industry-academia collaboration meet-up were held.
