Ekushey Book Fair in Ctg starts on Feb 9

A 23-day long Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2024 will begin from February 9 in the port city Chittagong.

Chittagong City Corporation Mayor and freedom fighter Md. Rezaul Karim Chowdhury announced this at the preparation meeting of the book fair at the conference room of City Corporation's building on Sunday.

CCC Mayor said, 'Amar Ekushey Book Fair of Chittagong is our important tradition.  It is important to select a specific place for this fair.  I think Shirishtala will be the permanent place for the book fair.  If we can hold the book fair at Shirishtala now, then there will be an opportunity to hold the book fair every year permanently.'

He said this while speaking as the chief guest at the preparation meeting of Amar Ekushey Book Fair with writers, publishers, poets, journalists, intellectuals, cultural workers, professionals and members of Chattogram creative publishing council.

The meeting was presided over by Councillor Dr. Nishar Uddin Ahmed Manjur, Chairman of the Education Standing Committee of the City Corporation.  CCC Panel Mayor Md Gias Uddin, Begum Afroza Kalam, Social Welfare Standing Committee President Councillor Abdus Salam Masum, Councillor Hasan Murad Biplab, Ataullah Chowdhury, CCC Secretary Khaled Mahmud, Chief Education Officer and Mayor's Private Secretary Muhammad Abul Hashem, Education Officer Moshammat Rasheda Akhtar, Chittagong writers and publishers spoke.
