Eight health projects being implemented in Chandpur

Chandpur Health Engineering Department has implemented 8 projects in the current fiscal year 2018-2019 to expand the healthcare facilities for the poor people of the rural areas of the district. In order to implement these projects, the government spends Tk 74.44 crore.

Of the projects, five are under construction and three are under process which will be completed by June, 2020, said Chandpur HED’s Deputy Assistant Engineer Abdul Alim.

According to the sources, one project of the five are going to be implemented in Matlab of the district, while a three-storied 10-bed mother and child welfare hospital, costing Tk five crore in Mohanpur of Matlab upazila for improving the health care of women and children of the upazila. Residential quarters of doctors and nurses will be constructed there.

Another one is 'Abdul Wadod Shishu Kalyan' hospital will be built naming after the father of the Army Chief General Aziz Ahmed at Torki union of the upazila. Due to similar design it also costs 5 crore covering hospital residential quarters.

Besides, upgradation and expansion projects of Matlab North Upazila Health Complex and Faridganj Upazila Health Complex from 31 beds to 50 beds are in progress. New dormitory will be constructed for the physicians. The cost of this project is about Tk 14 crores and 10 crores consequently.

In addition, 3 sophisticated community clinics at Ballia union under Sadar upazila, North Algi union of Himchar and South Algi union of the same upazila will be built under this development project. 

Chandpur Health Department's Deputy Engineer Abdul Alim said, "The government's health department is working to make people's health services to the doorstep so that the doctors can provide health services to the common people of the remote areas”.
