Eid special train has been launched on the Chattogram-Cox's Bazar route for the first time.
The first train left Chattogram railway station at 7:00am on Monday (April 8). The train reached Cox's Bazar railway station at 10:20 am.
Some special trains will run from Chattogram to different destinations on the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.
However, two Eid special trains will run on Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar route.
The Eid special trains will stop at eight stations on Chattogram-Cox's Bazar route. The stations are Sholashar, Janalihat, Patiya, Dohazari, Satkania, Chakaria, Dulahazara and Ramu.
As a result of introducing the special train, people of South Chattogram, especially people of south region of the district, and Cox’s Bazar get the opportunity to travel home on Eid by train.
Every year during the Eid holidays, the people of the region return home through facing huge sufferings due to shortage of vehicle, excess fares and traffic jams.
Against this backdrop, the people of South Chattogram get the opportunity to travel home on Eid by train for the first time,
The Eid special train will play a vital role in reducing the pressure on road.
A total of 1155 people will get the chance to go directly from Chattogram to Cox's Bazar every day by taking Coxsbazar Express and Parjatak Express.
Passengers are happy for introducing Eid special train on Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar route.
Railway’s Cox's Bazar station master Golam Rabbani said that this is the first Eid since the new railway line to Dhaka-Cox's Bazar. “This first Eid, we are able to provide special train services on Chattogram-Cox's Bazar and Cox's Bazar-Chattogram route. Two Eid special trains will run on the route. “He also said that the speciall train will run from Monday to April 14. After two days closure on April 15 and 16, it will operate till April 18.
He said, “There is a possibility of three more extensions of commuter trains and inter-city trains up to Cox's Bazar. In this, the Meghna train from Mahanagar, Turna and Chandpur can be extended to Cox's Bazar.
Meanwhile, commercial trains on Cox's Bazar route started from December 1. Despite huge passenger demand, only two trains are plying on Dhaka-Chattogram-Cox's Bazar route for the last four months.
The people of South Chattogram did not get the benefit of the Dohazari-Cox's Bazar railway line as the Cox's Bazar Express and Parjatak Express plying on the Dhaka-Chattogram-Cox's Bazar route are non-stop. Railways has given run two special trains on this route for this Eid journey.
Moreover, the railway authorities expect to start three more trains on the Dhaka-Cox's Bazar route and commuter trains on the Chattogram-Cox's Bazar route by next June.
Local businessmen believe that such an initiative by the railway authorities will contribute to the development of the tourism industry.
