Fisheries and Livestock Ministry Adviser Farida Akhter on Friday said that the price of eggs will come under control soon.

She said that the syndicate is the main reason for the increase of egg price.

The government is working with these issues. Regular raids are going on in the market. Already the wholesale price is decreasing. The price will come under control soon.

He said these while speaking as the chief guest at the event organized by Krishibid Institution Bangladesh on the occasion of

World Egg Day at Farmgate in the capital on Friday.

The adviser said that the demand for eggs increases during the Ashwin-Kartik months of the year as the supply of vegetables decreases.

Eggs reach to the hands of the consumers after changing many hands. This is why the price of eggs increases. For this reason, the planning is going on how to collect eggs directly from the farmer to the consumer. In addition, the consumption of eggs is reduced during Ramadan.

She said, “We have to think about cold storage in the light of demand instead of stock. Many farms in the country have been destroyed due to floods. It takes some time for these farms to go into production. Overall supply is in a problem.

Mentioningthat rural women should be encouraged to raise poultry to increase egg production, the adviser said, earlier rural women used to rear poultry. They themselves used to sell to the wholesalers in the village. Thus, they could contribute in the economic field. That situation should be brought back again. All measures should be taken for this.
