In a recent address at the 11th convocation ceremony of Daffodil International University, Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury underscored the necessity of fostering a global mindset and honing skill sets to bridge the gap between available jobs and skilled job seekers.
Highlighting the growing demand for skill-based jobs in the country, the Minister lamented the mismatch between job opportunities and the corresponding skill sets possessed by potential candidates. He stressed the importance of acquiring international certifications to enhance employability both domestically and internationally.
Addressing the graduating students, Minister Chowdhury urged them to prioritize self-employment and lifelong learning. He emphasized the significance of mastering life skills alongside professional and vocational education to thrive in today's competitive job market.
Furthermore, the Minister emphasized the need for graduates to refine their language, presentation, and communication skills to remain competitive globally. He warned against the potential loss of foreign currency if local graduates remain inadequately prepared for the job market, highlighting the necessity of continuous self-improvement.
The convocation ceremony also featured Professor Franco Gandoliffe from George Town University as the keynote speaker, along with speeches from university officials including Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of Daffodil International University.
A total of 6,284 graduates were conferred degrees during the convocation, with 12 outstanding achievers being honored with gold medals in various categories. The event witnessed the presence of notable figures including Professor Dr. Muhammad Alamgir, Chairman (Additional Charge) of the University Grants Commission (UGC), among others.
