The election commission (EC) has recommended withdrawal of officers-in-charge (OCs) of two police stations in Jhenaidah when it was proved to the commission that they were negligent in duty.
The decision was taken on December 23 (Saturday). The OCs are Thakur Das Mandal of Shailkupa police station and Mahbubur Rahman of Harinakundu police station.
Additional Secretary of the EC Ashoke Kumar Debnath informed the media that they had advised the higher authorities concerned to withdraw the duo when their indifference and negligent in duty were proved as per the report submitted by the returning officer (RO) also deputy commissioner (DC), and the superintendent of police (SP) in Jhenaidah.
The EC had informed the Senior Secretary of Pubic Security (Janonirapotta) Section of the Home Ministry of replacement of the two OCs on Saturday.
EC Additional Secretary Ashoke Kumar Debnath said the allegation against the duo was proved where they kept mum and showed negligence in discharging duties with responsibility.
Mention may be made here that Harinakundu OC Mahbubur Rahman was posted a month back, while Shailkupa OC Thakur Das Mandal was posted about two months back. Mandal earlier served as OC for investigation in same police station for the last couple of months at Shailkupa.
