Election Commissioner (EC) retired Brigadier General Mohammad Ahsan Habib Khan had exchanged views with the candidates of ensuing municipality and union parishad (UP) polls at Jhenaidah Shilpakala Academy auditorium on Sunday.
Organized by Jhenaidah district administration and election office jointly, the discussion was addressed among others by EC secretariat joint secretary Nuruzzaman Talukder, regional election officer (REO) in Khulna division Yunus Ali, Jhenaidah deputy commissioner (DC) Manira Begum and superintendent of police (SP) Munttasirul Islam. All the intending candidates in the polls were present in the discussion meeting.
The speakers said the election of Jhenaidah municipality polls through electoral voter machine (EVM) was scheduled for June 15 in a free and fear atmosphere.
Each and every candidate and others will have to maintain the code of conduct of the EC so that the elect ions could be concluded peacefully. Any sort of untoward incidents might be controlled strictly with the law enforcing agency people and executive magistrates.
