The Election Commission (EC) has ordered to dispose 47 thousand 803 applications related to National Identity Card (NID) pending in various offices at the field level, within 15 days.
The director of NID branch of EC Farhad Hossain sent the instructions to the field officials on Thursday. According to the instructions, 30 thousand 386 applications of 'A' category 'Sent Back to Citizen' and 17 thousand 437 applications of 'Additional Document Required' are incomplete.
These applications have been pending since 2011 and for a long time thereafter. Therefore, the concerned upazila/election officer or police station concerned has been requested to dispose of the incomplete applications in 'A' category 'Sent Back to Citizen' and 'Additional Document Required' within the next 15 working days.
It is mentionable that, EC disposes of applications in seven categories.
