The body of an easy-bike driver was found at Santoshpur village under Chitalmari upazila of Bagerhat on Saturday morning.
The deceased was identified as Anowar Molla alias Ano, 45, son of Soleman Molla, resident of Majhidanga village under Bagerhat Sadar Upazila of the district.
According to the family sources of the deceased, Anowar Molla with passengers headed to Chitalmari from Boro Bazar area of Bagerhat town on Friday night. The family members started searching as he did not return and it was late night. At one stage, his location was traced by the location tracker device attached at his easy bike. Police personnel, the technician of the device Ehsanul Ahsan Titash and Anowar’s brother Delwar Molla along with some others detained the snatchers from Shialkathi intersection with the easy-bike. A case was filed with Chitalmari Police Station against the snatchers Md Sajib Sheikh and Sagor on the same night. Later, according to their confession the body of Anowar Molla alias Ano was recovered. Anowar’s brother, Delwar Molla said we could not contact by calling on my brother’s phone. It was very late at night. Then we contacted the technician of the location tracker device. Later, with the help of police personnel we detained the snatcher. I want justice for this killing, he added.
Chitalmari Fire Service and Civil Defense Station Officer S M Abdul Odud said we recovered the body after police informed us. We handed over the body to police.
Chitalmari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Swapan Chandra Ray said the body of the slain easy-bike driver was sent to Bagerhat 250-bed District Hospital for autopsy. The preparations are underway to send the accused to the court. It is being investigated either anyone else is involved in the incident or not.
