Sharadiya Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of Bengali Hindu community, will begin from October 9. The festival will be celebrated in 32 temples in Ishwardi upazila.
The festival will continue for five days. It will start from Sasthi and end with the sacrifice of Idol in Bijoya Dashami on October 13. The local administration has begun their preparation in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna to celebrate the Puja properly and beautifully.
Meanwhile, the artisans are busy making Idols for the celebration of the upcoming Sharodiya Durga Puja in various temples in seven unions of the upazila and the municipality area of Ishwardi.
Sources from Ishwardi upazila Puja Celebration Committee said the formalities of the Puja will start from October 9 with the Shasthi. Durgja Puja will be celebrated at thirty two temples in seven unions of the upazila and in Ishwardi municipality town. Among them, there are nine temples in Ishwardi municipal area, five temples in Sara union, four temples in Pakshi union, two temples in Sahapur union, two temples in Luxmikunda union, two temples in Dashuria union, one temples union in Silimpur union and seven temples in Muladuli union.
Bangladesh National Hindu Grand Alliance Ishwardi Upazila Committee General Secretary Deb Dulal Roy said preparations are being made for the upcoming Puja and the celebration of the Puja. Everything is progressing well. Communication with leaders of Puja Udjapon O Mondir Committee is going on as well. I hope that with everyone’s cooperation, Durga Puja will be celebrated in a beautiful and joyous manner, just like every year.
He said the biggest festival of the Hindu Community, Sharodiya Durga Puja, will start from October 9. It will end on October 13 with the sacrifice of the Idol during Bijoya Doshomi.
Ishwardi Puja Udjapon Parishad president Sunil Kumar Chakraborty said there are still a few days left till the formalities of the Puja start. The leaders of Mondir Committee held several meetings with upazila administration and police administration to celebrate Puja in a proper, beautiful and joyous atmosphere.
Officer-in-Charge of (OC) of Ishwardi Police Station Shahidul Islam said security measures round the clock will be taken in the temple and the surrounding areas during the Puja. Uniformed police, along with members of detective agencies, traffic police, and plainclothes police will be working at every temple during the Puja.
He said a control room in the police station will remain open to maintain the law and order situation during the Puja and to provide additional security in all the Mandaps.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Subir Kumar Das said strict security measures will be taken in every Mandap during the Puja festival. There will be no compromise to celebrate the Durga Puja in a proper and beautiful atmosphere according to the instructions of the current government.
