The annual conference of Dhaka University National Model United Nations (DUNMUN) is going to begin on Wednesday at the Dhaka university campus. It will continue till July 22 to celebrate the academic renaissance.
The theme of this year’s DUNMUN is "Towards Equitable Governance: Embracing Data-Driven Transformation for an Inclusive World," said a press release.
Since its inception in 2011, DUMUNA has been committed to advancing the ideals and tenets of the United Nations (UN) through diverse initiatives, with a primary emphasis on Model United Nations (MUN) simulations.
“When it comes to Model United Nations conferences in South Asia, DUNMUN is the biggest and most prominent. Since 2012, DUMUNA has been responsible for organising the historic youth conference of DUNMUN.”
To achieve fair governance, it is essential to ensure that data is secure, adequately handled, and technologically bruit, said DUNMUNA.
“Over five hundred students from numerous countries come together at this conference to discuss, debate, and advise on some of the world's most critical and nuanced concerns. The fundamental goal of hosting DUNMUN is to resolve a solution-focused discussion of globally significant issues in which young people can play an important role.”

There are 12 committees for participants to choose from in DUNMUN 2023. Notably, five of these committees are being introduced for the first time in the country's Model United Nations arena.
The committees of DUNMUN 2023 are: United Nations Security Council Counter-Terrorism Committee (UNSC CTC), United Nations General Assembly Third Committee (SOCHUM- Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee), United Nations General Assembly Fourth Committee (SPECPOL-Special Political and Decolonization Committee), United Nations Commission on Science and Technology for Development (UNCSTD), Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), United Nations Girls’ Education Initiative ( UNGEI), G-20 Leader’s Summit, ECNEC- Executive Committee of the National Economic Council, International Criminal Police Organisation (INTERPOL), United Nations Statistical Commission (UNSC).
