DU Vice-Chancellor visits Central Shaheed Minar

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman visited the Central Shaheed Minar on Saturday, to inspect the overall preparations for the observation of Language Martyrs' Day and International Mother Language Day-2022.

After the visit, he briefed the reporters of various print and electronic media on the overall preparations for the day.

Expressing satisfaction over the overall preparations, the Vice-Chancellor said that the raised platform of the central Shaheed Minar is being prepared for laying wreaths on the morning of 21st February.

He said that all the preparations will be completed in time.

The Vice-Chancellor called upon the public to observe the Language Martyrs' Day and International Mother Language Day-2022 by following proper hygiene rules, wearing masks and maintaining social distance considering the Covid-19 situation.

He also made the call to limit the number of people laying wreaths at the Shaheed Minar to five persons if groups and two persons if individuals and said that everyone will get the opportunity to pay their respects. 

He sought the full cooperation of all concerned to observe the day in a fair, peaceful and orderly manner with due dignity and solemnity while maintaining the reputation of Dhaka University.

Dhaka University authority has chalked out a number of programmes to mark the day. 

National flag will be hoisted at half-mast and black flag will be hoisted at the main building of the university including the Vice Chancellor's building.

A procession led by the Vice-Chancellor will be brought out from the base of Aparajeyo Bangla.

In addition, special prayers will be offered for the souls of the language martyrs in all the mosques of the University residential after Zuhr prayers. A route-map has been prepared for the Central Shaheedd Minar and Azimpur cemetery. The university authorities have requested everyone to follow it properly.
