Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Niaz Ahmad Khan announced that the university’s education program will be launched soon based on students' feedback and opinions. He shared this during an interaction with student representatives from various halls on Monday evening. The Vice-Chancellor said the administration is working to ensure campus security and hall order to start the program as soon as possible.
The discussions were held with students from Dr. Muhammad Shahidullah Hall, Kabi Sufia Kamal Hall, Amar Ekushe Hall, and Fazlul Haque Muslim Hall. The meeting aimed to gather students' thoughts and suggestions to improve the university environment. According to a press release from DU, further discussions will be held with student representatives at the department and institute levels.
Professor Niaz Ahmad Khan mentioned that talks with students have already highlighted several important issues, which the administration is seriously considering. A roadmap is being prepared to start the education programme promptly through ongoing consultations with teachers and students.
The Vice-Chancellor has been actively visiting various halls since August 31 to directly engage with students and understand their needs. During these interactions, students proposed several improvements, including ensuring campus security, enhancing the internal transport system, creating a drug-free campus, and removing vagrants. They also requested an increase in hall seats, construction of new buildings, better food quality, and high-speed internet with free Wi-Fi in the halls.
Professor Mohammad Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Proctor Saifuddin Ahmed, and principals and resident teachers of the respective halls were present at the meeting.
The DU administration hopes that by addressing these concerns, they can create a safer and more conducive environment for learning and living on campus.
