The Dhaka University (DU) will confer Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman with Honorary Doctor of Laws (posthumously) degree at a special convocation of DU to be held on September 5, 2020 marking the birth centenary of Bangabandhu.

This decision was taken at a meeting on the occasion of the Mujib Year-2020, chaired by DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman, said a press release.

Nobel Prize winner economist Abhijit Banerjee will be the convocation speaker, the release mentioned.

The degree will be awarded to Bangabandhu marking the Mujib Year, said Vice Chancellor Md Akhtaruzzaman after a meeting at DU.
Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Nasrin Ahmed, Treasurer Professor Kamal Uddin, General Secretary of Dhaka University Teachers' Association Professor Nizamul Haque Bhuiyan, Proctor Prof Golam Rabbani, Registrar Md Enamuzzaman and Secretary General of Dhaka University Alumni Association Ranjon Kormoker were present, among others, at the meeting.
