The academic and administrative activities at Dhaka University and 35 other public universities have come to a halt as teachers and employees continued with their work abstention demanding the cancellation of Universal Pension Scheme.
At Dhaka University, a large number of students face uncertainty as they can neither take exams nor attend classes due to the ongoing work abstention.
Rudro Asad, a student of History Department said, “We are in trouble because teachers’ protests. Our examination, which was scheduled to be held today (Tuesday), has been postponed. The university authority has not yet informed us about the new schedule. So, we are in fear of session jam.”
Foysal Fatin, a student of Political Science, told this correspondent, “I went to registrar building several times to pay my fees but I couldn’t because of the ongoing movement.”
Md. Nazim, a student of Organisation Strategy and Leadership Department said, “Due
to teachers’ work abstention, the central library has remained shut. So, we can’t study at the library which is hampering our study.”
The Federation of Bangladesh University Teachers’ Association (FBUTA) which started work abstention since Monday vowed that they would continue with the movement until their demand is met.
