Female students of Dhaka University have filed a complaint with sexual harassment cell against Naadir Junaid, a teacher of Mass Communication and Journalism Department, over alleged harassment of a female student.

A fact-finding committee was formed on March 3 to investigate the allegation brought against the teacher. Even though more than two months have already passed, the committee has not yet provided any information about this incident.

As a result, the students of Mass Communication and Journalism Department organised a press briefing on Monday where Rafiz Khan, on behalf of general students, said, "We want to see a visible a progress in the investigation within next three days. If Prof Naadir Junaid is found guilty, we want his permanent dismissal.”

"Sexual harassment is a criminal offence. The university authority can't avoid responsibility only by firing the teacher and demoting him. No student is safe from them. If they are given the opportunity, more offences will be committed in the university,” he added.

If found guilty, he said, Prof Naadir Junaid should be permanently expelled from the university and legal action should be taken against him under the state law.
