Two PhD researchers of the Centre for Advanced Research in Arts and Social Sciences (CARASS) of Dhaka University (DU) were awarded “AKM Abdul Hamid and Begum Selima Jahan Memorial Research Scholarship” for their outstanding research work.
DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman handed over scholarships to Debashish Bepari (Music department) and Md Shamim Miah (Population Sciences department) at a function on Sunday at the VC’s lounge.
CARASS Director Prof Dr Abdul Bashir, donor’s family member Prof Dr AH Ahmed Kamal and DU Treasurer Prof Dr Md Kamal were also present.
Paying glowing tributes to the memories of late AKM Abdul Hamid and late Begum Selima Jahan, Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman urged the researchers to play an effective role to enhance the quality of research.
