Professor Dr Nakib Muhammad Nasrullah of Dhaka University Law department has been appointed as the 14th new Vice-Chancellor of Islamic University in Kushtia, for the next four years.
After one and half month after the resignation of the former Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Shaikh Abdus Salam, the university got a new Vice-Chancellor.
The Education Ministry’s secondary and higher education division on Monday issued a gazette notification signed by the ministry’s Deputy Secretary Shaninoor Rahman in this regard.
President Mohammed Shahabuddin, the chancellor of the university, made the appointment as per section 10 (1) of the Islamic University Act-1980, the notifications said. Professor Nakib M Nasrullah replaces Professor Dr Shaikh Abdus Salam. Professor Salam resigned from the post on August 08 and after the resignation of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina following a mass movement of the students.
Professor Nasrullah previously served as an Associate professor of the Law department of Islamic University, Kushtia, and later joined the Law department of Dhaka University. He had earlier served as a proctor at IU and provost of the Saddam Hossain Hall.
