DU online application process starts

Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the online application process for admission test for the candidates under the 2020-21 academic session at the central admission center on Monday. 

Under this process, candidates who can fulfill the condition of GPA in their HSC examination can apply through the admission website --admission.eis.du.ac.bd -- after 5.30 pm of March 8 and before 11.59 pm of March 31.

Deans of respective faculties, general admission test committee members and ICT division members were present at the inaugural session.

Applicants have to compete for 7133 sits. The last date for paying the fee has been extended to April 1. The applicants can pay their fees through Sonali Bank, Rupali Bank, Janata Bank, and Agrani Bank. Besides, aspirants can use mobile banking facilities also.

Later, the authority exchanged views with the journalists. Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman said, "The examinations will be held in eight divisional cities -- Dhaka, Chottogram, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal, Sylhet, Mymensingh and Rangpur, for the first time considering the current pandemic situation and to minimizing financial costs of the candidates. The examination will be held through a cooperative process with the divisional public universities. Here, the respective public university authorities will maintain the whole process." 

"The admission test will begin on May 21 with the written test for “Ka” (A) unit under the Science faculty. The Kha (B) unit test under the Arts faculty will be held on May 22, followed by "Ga" (C) unit test under Business faculty on May 27 and the "Gha" (D) unit test under the Social Sciences faculty on May 28. The preliminary test for the "Cha" (E) unit under the Fine Arts faculty will be held on June 5. All the tests will be held between 11 am and 12:30 pm," added the VC.

Question will be set as 60 marks on Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) and 40 marks against the written test for Ka, Kha, Ga, and Gha units. Aspirants will be given 45 minutes for each portion.

However, Cha unit aspirants will sit for the examination for 40 marks on MCQ. Later, according to results,1500 candidates can participate in 60 marks written test.

Moreover, applicants' Grade Point Average (GPA) of SSC and HSC will be evaluated under the scale of 20 marks (10+10) other than the academic test marks (100).

Students applying from the Ka unit are required to have a minimum SSC and HSC combined GPA of 8.5. Applicants from the Kha and Ga units require a combined GPA of 8.
