Yunnan Minzu University (YMU) of China, Vice President, Prof. Dr. Shao Weiqing called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal on May 11, at the latter’s office of the university.
In a press release, Md Rafique Islam, Deputy Director of Public Relations Office, cleared this. Dean of the School of Literature and Media Studies Prof. Wang Guoxu, Director of the Office of International Exchange & Cooperation Mr. Liu Chang, and Vice Dean of the School of Physical Education Prof. Hu Yingguo and Prof. Gao Ruihong were present there. DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Dr. Sitesh Chandra Bachar, Director of the Institute of Modern Languages (IML) Prof. Dr. Sayeedur Rahman and Registrar Probir Kumar Sarker were also present on this occasion.
During the meeting, they discussed matters of mutual interest specially the possibilities of strengthening ongoing joint collaborative academic and research programs between the University of Dhaka and Yunnan Minzu University. They also discussed the possibilities of undertaking a ‘3+1’ student exchange program between these two universities. Under this program, students of YMU Bangla Department will pursue their studies in 3 years Undergraduate Program in China and 1 year at DU.
Besides, students of DU Chinese Language Department will pursue their studies in 3 years Undergraduate Program in Bangladesh and 1 year at YMU.
The introduction of the International Tai Chi Course at DU and the expansion of the Bangla Language Program at YMU were also discussed in the meeting.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal apprised the delegation members of a brief history of Dhaka University as well as its academic and research activities. He thanked the guests for their visit to Dhaka University and keen interest in its academic activities.
