A colourful cultural event was held on Tuesday evening at the Student-Teacher Center premises (TSC) on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Dhaka University Music Department and the annual music festival.
Housing and Public Works Minister SM Rezaul Karim was present as the chief guest and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) of DU Professor Dr Muhammad Samad was the special guest. Music department chairperson Tumpa Samaddar, renowned Singer Professor Rezwana Chowdhury Baniya, department teachers and students were present at the festival.
Former teacher of DU, Music Department and eminent singer of the country Nilufar Yeasmin was posthumously awarded the Festival Award 2019 at the event. In addition, student of the department, Khandaker Anika Islam was awarded with 'Nilufar Yeasmin Memorial-Scholarship-2019' for securing first place in the BA (Honours) exam in 2018.
On Tuesday, Vice-Chancellor of the university Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman, as the chief guest, inaugurated the two-day long festival.
In addition to this, a programme was held on Wednesday at TSC premises where renowned artists of India were present.
Dean of the Faculty of Arts Abu Md Delwar Hossain and Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies Professor Shibli Rubaiyatul Islam were present as special guest at the cultural event in the evening.
