Dhaka University (DU) has announced the appointment of 11 new provosts for its dormitories, effective September 3. Munshi Sham Uddin Ahmed, Acting Director of the Public Relations Office, made the announcement, which was confirmed by the university's new Vice Chancellor, Niaz Ahmed Khan.
The newly appointed provosts for the male dormitories are Prof. Dr. Nazmul Ahsan at Mohsin Hall, Dr. Abdullah Al Mamun at Salimullah Muslim Hall, Dr. Nazmul Hossain at Mokti Juddha Ziaur Rahman Hall, Dr. Samsul Alam at Jatir Janak Bangabandhu Hall, Dr. SM Ali Reza at Bijoy Ekattor Hall, Associate Prof. Faruk Shah at Sergeant Jahurul Haque Hall, and Associate Prof. Debashish Pal at Jagannath Hall. For the female dormitories, the new provosts are Dr. Nasreen Sultana at Shamsunnahar Hall, Dr. Husne Ara Begum at Royeka Hall, Dr. Mahbuba Sultana at Kuwait Moitri Hall, and Dr. Salma Nasreen at Kabi Sufia Kamal Hall.
The provosts will be responsible for managing their respective halls, which includes overseeing daily operations, addressing student concerns, and ensuring a positive living environment. Their roles are crucial in maintaining the well-being and safety of the students residing in the university’s dormitories.
These appointments are part of Vice Chancellor Niaz Ahmed Khan’s initiative to strengthen the administration of the university's residential facilities.
