DU commemorates Bangabandhu

Dhaka University (DU) Abritti Sangsad organized a poetry recitation programme ‘Shotokonthe Bangabandhu’ on Friday at the central Shaheed Minar premise commemorating Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The programme was inaugurated by DU Vice Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman, reciting various poems written for Bangabandhu. Among others, Golam Quddus, president of Sangskritik Jote, Arif Ibn Ali, secretary of Science and Technology at DU Central Students' Union (DUSCU), Rafiqul Islam Oitijjho and Mahmud Hassan, members of DUSCU, spoke at the ocassion.

Professor Dr Akhtaruzzaman, the chief guest of the programme, said such events are very important and meaningful to commemorate the occasion of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's 100th birthday and such cultural activities will inspire all, especially the younger generation. The VC urged all the artists, poets and writers to build ‘Sonar Bangla’ of Bangabandhu’s dream by nurturing his ideals and spirit of humanity.
