DU Cha unit undergraduate admission test held

The first undergraduate admission tests examination of Cha unit under the Faculty of Fine Arts of the first-year of Dhaka University for the 2022-23 academic session held on Saturday in a peaceful manner.

The examination was held from 11:00am to 12:30pm at the Arts Building and Social Science Building.

A total of 7,096 candidates vie for 130 seats of the Fine Arts unit while 54 admission aspirants vied for each seat. However, Dhaka University vice-chancellor Md Akhtaruzzaman visited the examination centre at Arts Building around 11:15am.

After visiting different exam centre, the DU VC said, 'students expressed satisfaction with the quality of questions and the overall atmosphere. Today the environment is very good as fewer students participated in the Fine Art unit test. We hope that the surrounding conditions will remain good for the coming days as well. In this case, the cooperation of all stakeholders is highly desirable.'

However, from this year the admission tests will be held under four units - arts, law and social science unit, science unit, business studies unit and fine arts unit. According to the schedule, the admission test for the arts, law, and social science unit will be held on May 6, the science unit on May 12, the business studies unit on May 13. For the first time, DU authorities will take the admission test in the ‘Undergraduate Programme Admission Test’ instead of the ‘Honours First Year Admission Test’ in line with global standards.

In addition, the authorities included the transgender quota in the admission test for the first time.

This time 2,98,429 students have applied for a total of 5,965 seats. About 50 candidates will fight for each seat.

Tests of all units will be held from 11:00am to 12:30 pm. 

Admission tests for three units, except for the fine arts unit, will be held in eight divisional cities aiming to reduce the hassle of the students.

The tests will be held at eight universities at all divisional cities. They are Dhaka University, Rajshahi University, Chittagong University, Khulna University, Barishal University, Begum Rokeya University, Bangladesh Agricultural University and Shahjalal University of Science and Technology in Sylhet.

This time the total number of seats in the science unit is 1, 851. Out of this, 1,775 seats are allocated for science background students, 51 for humanities and 25 for commerce students.

The total number of seats in the Arts, Law and Social Science units is 2, 934. Of them, 908 seats are allotted for students of science, 1, 744 for students of the humanities and 282 seats for students of commerce students.
