DU celebrates ‘Korean Alphabet Day’

The Institute of Modern Languages (IML) of Dhaka University (DU) celebrated the ‘Korean Alphabet Day’ on Tuesday at IML auditorium.  

Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman was present as chief guest on this occasion. Department of Korean Language of DU IML organised this programme, officials said. Director of DU Institute of Modern Languages Prof Dr ABM Razaul Karim Faquire presided over the programme while Country Director of Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Young Ah Doh, Third Secretary of Korean Embassy Sun-nam In, teachers and students of Korean Language Department of IML were present on this occasion.

DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman thanked the organiser to celebrate this ‘Korean Alphabet Day’ in Dhaka University.

Akhtaruzzaman said, “A friendly relation has been prevailing between Bangladesh and South Korea for a long time. South Korea has been providing help and cooperation to various sectors including education, trade and cultural fields in Bangladesh.”

 DU VC urged the students to be equipped with Korean language to further strengthen friendly ties between the two countries.

In observance of the day ‘Korean language speech’ and ‘Korean language hand-writing’ competitions were arranged for the students of Korean Language Department of DU IML.
