DU 'Business Studies Unit' admission test held, 39 vie for each seat

The admission test for the Business Studies unit of Dhaka University for the academic year 2022-2023 was held on Saturday. The exam started from 11am and will continue till 12:30pm on Saturday.

 To ease the sufferings of students and parents, the admission test was held on the DU campus and in the other seven divisional cities of the country as the previous year. 

For each seat in the undergraduate program at the Faculty of Business Studies at Dhaka University, approximately 39 applicants are participated to compete for the 1,050 seats. 

According to the information of the admission office of the university, a total of 41,368 students from business, humanities and science departments are taking part in this unit's exam.

"The examination was held peacefully and there was no news of any untoward incident. University authorities, law enforcement agency members and other concerned authorities were super alert to avoid any kind of untoward incident," said DU Pro-VC (Administration) Dr Mohammad Samad, who is in routine duty of Vice Chancellor, after visiting the exam halls. 

A total of 27,655 students took part in the exam on Dhaka University campus and the remaining students participated in the exam from other seven divisional cities, he added. 

DU Pro-VC (Academic) Dr ASM Maksud Kamal, Treasurer Professor Momtaj Uddin Ahmed, exam coordinator and Business faculty dean Dr Muhammad Abdul Moin, DU Teacher Association president Dr Nizamul Hoque Bhuiyan and Proctor Dr Md Maksudur Rahman, among others, were also present on the occasion.

Out of this, 95, 25 and 930 seats are allotted for science, humanities and commerce departments respectively.

In the new revised rules of Dhaka University, instead of five units, the admission test is being conducted from now on four units. 

A total of 298,500 candidates have applied for admission against 5,965 seats in four units. 

The university authorities have decided to hold the admission test in the divisional cities from the 2020-11 session to reduce the suffering of students from different parts of the country on the occasion of Dhaka University admission test. 

Like the last two years, the admission test is being held simultaneously in eight divisional cities of the country including Dhaka University Centre.

As in the previous year, the admission test is being conducted simultaneously in eight divisional centres, including Dhaka. 

The centres are Dhaka University (DU) for Dhaka division, Chittagong University (CU) for Chittagong division, Rajshahi University (RU) for Rajshahi division, Khulna University (KU) for Khulna division, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (Sust) for Sylhet division, Begum Rokeya University (BRU) for Rangpur division, Barisal University (BU) for Barisal division, and Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) for Mymensingh division.
