Market-cap (capitalization) of the Dhaka Stock Exchange went up by almost Tk 2,561.23 crore in the last week.
The market-cap of the DSE stood at Tk 577,036.58 crore against Tk 574475.34 crore a week before.
However, stocks witnessed a moderate growth in the last week with investors maintaining a cautious stance.
DSEX, the prime index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) went up 22.29 points or 0.31 percent to settle at 7,250, after losing 30.43 points in the previous week.
Market experts said most investors have taken a cautious stance throughout the week as many share prices increased significantly in recent times.
On the other hand, some investors were closely observing the market movement while some investors were busy on profit-booking, they added.
However, the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also increased by 3.95 points to close at 1,581 while the blue-chip DS30 index witnessed a fractional loss of 0.99 point to end at 2,673.
The weekly turnover stood at Tk 97.09 billion on the DSE against Tk 111.22 billion in the week before.
In addition, the daily average turnover stood at Tk 19.42 billion, 13 percent down from the previous week's average of Tk 22.24 billion.
Beximco continued to top the turnover chart with shares worth Tk 5.96 billion changing hands.
It was followed by Beximco Pharma (Tk 3.15 billion), Orion Pharma (Tk 2.46 billion), LankaBangla Finance (Tk 2.31 billion) and LafargeHolcim (Tk 2.28 billion).
Low-cap companies dominated the week's gainer list, with Pacific Denims making its way to the top of the gainers chart, posting a 24.66-per cent rise, followed by Eastern Insurance (20.80 percent), Alif Manufacturing Company (19.44 percent), Bangladesh National Insurance (17.87 percent) and KDS Accessories (17.25 percent).
Bangladesh Monospool Paper Manufacturing Company was the worst loser, losing 18.39 percent in the last week.
On the other hand, the port city bourse, the Chattogram Stock Exchange (CSE) also saw a rapid growth with its selective category index (CSCX) gaining 5 points in the last week to close at 12,687 points.
The All-Share Price Index (CASPI) of the CSE was higher by 5 points to close at 21,146 points.
Of the 342 issues traded, 179 advanced, 149 declined and 14 remained unchanged on the CSE floor.
The port city's bourse traded 11.03 crore shares and mutual fund units with turnover value of Tk 325 crore during the time.
