BGB Teknaf Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Sheikh Khalid Mohammad Iftekhar issued a press release this morning on the basis of secret information that BGB has come to know that a huge shipment of drugs will enter Bangladesh from Myanmar through Damdamiya point of Teknaf across the Naf river. On the basis of this news, a BGB team was stationed in Jaliar Island area of Naf river this morning.

The notification mentions that while the BGB patrol was stationed at Jaliar Dwip, they saw 3/4 people crossing the null line of the Naf River from Myanmar in a wooden boat and entering Bangladesh. When the men were chased by BGB patrols who were strategically positioned in the east at Jaliar Dwip, they jumped off the boat, plunged into the Naf river and fled into Myanmar by diving.

Later, the patrol team rescued the boat and recovered two plastic bags wrapped in polythene from under the deck of the boat and inside the fishing net. 4 kg 278 grams of crystal meth ice and one and a half lakh pieces of Yaba tablets were seized from the recovered bag.

Later, a raid was conducted in the area by the patrol but no smugglers or their accomplices could be arrested.
