The detective branch (DB) police in Jhenaidah had detained a drug vendor with 40 litres of country-made liquor from a road on Saturday morning. The arrested was identified as Shubhalap Biswas, 42, son of Sushanta Biswas of village Hatgoplapur in Jhenaidah Sadar upazila, said additional superintendent of police in Jhenaidah Imran Zakaria.
In a press release the police officer said a contingent of DB policemen having information were staying near a stone stockyard at Bhupatipur on Jhenaidah-Magura highway. At about 10.15 am when Shubhalap Biswas carrying the drug arrived near the spot on a three-wheeler, the policemen challenged him.
The policemen seized the liquor from his possession carrying in a number of plastic containers. The police was preparing to file a case with Jhenaidahsadar police station and handing over the seized liquor, additional police super said.
